Standing Head To Knee Pose
Who:
You
What posture?
Standing Head To Knee Pose
Where is the primary focus?
The back of both legs, abdominal muscles, shoulders, and quadriceps
Where does the posture provide maximum benefits?
Spine, legs, abs, and arms
When and where could I feel the stretch?
The more you bring your weight forward, the deeper the stretch will be through the back of your legs.
Pulling in your abs the entire time will support your lower back, and build ab strength.
Turning your toes back towards your face in your lifted leg ankle builds strength and flexibility.
Bringing your elbows down stretches your shoulder muscles.
Why should I do this posture?
This posture builds balance, concentration, and challenges your expectations.
Once you can get your forehead to your knee, it’s a great feeling of success until you realize how hard it is to exit smoothly from the posture.
It’s tough not to have any expectations about how far you “should” be able to go in this posture. More important than how far you get is that you do your best at each step; eventually, the success builds on itself.
How can I improve?
This entire posture develops step by step with effort and perseverance.
